The Role

We’re looking for a passionate and ambitious Head of Engineering for this hands-on position. You will be responsible for overseeing the engineering function, ensuring high-quality installations, and driving continuous improvement within the team. We want you to drive our installation division to the next level. 

  • Lead and grow a dynamic team of engineers.

  • Influence the strategic direction of our fleet management solutions, ensuring they align with market demands.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small, growing team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Project Ownership: Lead the design, development, and optimisation of fleet solutions, from concept through to delivery.
  • Technology Implementation: Work on cutting-edge technologies like IoT, AI, and electric vehicle integration.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous process improvements and identify new opportunities to enhance fleet performance.
  • Proven experience in managing engineers and leading technical teams or a confident lead engineer ready to step up to the next level in their career.
  • A strong background in vehicle auto-electrics, telematics, or CCTV installation. 
  • Hands-on expertise with DC electronics and vehicle safety systems. 
  • Excellent communication and project management skills. 
  • A willingness to travel for key projects when required.

  • Installation of vehicle safety equipment experience minimum 3 years required.

Commencement Date & Role requirements

An immediate start is available for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual, who can demonstrate high personal standards and excellent communication skills. A genuine interest in electronics and technology is a must!

The role will consist of the installation of connected cameras, safety sensors, and vehicle trackers, spanning from cars to 26T lorries and agricultural machinery. Experience with 12 and 24-volt systems is necessary. Moreover, experience within technical environments would be advantageous, given that the solutions we supply will need to be configured, commissioned, and demonstrated to the customer.

As an Auto Electrical Engineer, you will be required to maintain professionalism in your delivery and communications with both customers and other subcontractors. Your responsibilities will include participating in the planning and roll-out of large-scale projects, necessitating detailed record-keeping of completed work.

You will have regular, dedicated time in the office to focus on growing and improving our installation and maintenance service.

Work Conditions

When applying, please consider that we work closely with the transport industry. Given the nature of the industry, there are many occasions where access to vehicles is only available on weekends. Consequently, our engineers will typically work 1-2 weekends per month. However, we provide weekdays in lieu and numerous opportunities for overtime as a result. While the majority of the work will be in your region, larger projects may require engineers to travel and stay away from home.

A competitive salary is offered, along with 28 days of holiday, including bank holidays. Additionally, a company vehicle, uniform, tools, and a Smartphone will be provided.
