Frequently Asked Question
Driver identification is a system that allows you to know exactly which employee is using a vehicle at any given time. This is usually done via a personal RFID card or fob key that the driver activates when starting the vehicle. This automatically links each trip to the right person, which is essential for administration, safety and accountability.
Knowing who drove which vehicle and when provides clarity about who is responsible for the use of each vehicle. This is crucial when dealing with fines, damage claims or customer visits. It also helps calculate mobility allowances and prevents discussions about private and business use of vehicles.
If immobilisation is configured, the Fleet Manager or Fleet Witness Support can override the process to allow the driver to start and drive the vehicle without a fob.
If a driver does not identify themselves, the system can issue a warning, such as an audible alert, and may not record the journey until identification occurs. This encourages consistent use and ensures full recording of all journeys.
